Last week was a busy one for us - the team was split between our base in Wrexham, Texprocess in Frankfurt, and the Furniture Component Expo in Telford! This blog is a recap of some of the highlights from our trips.
Texprocess
Texprocess needs no introduction! It is the leading international trade fair for processing textile and flexible materials. We were not exhibiting due to the clash with the Furniture Component Expo, but were still keen to attend to meet up with suppliers and customers, and to discuss new developments and ideas.
It was an early start for Rhys, Ellis, Matty, and Eleanor, who were up at 2am to drive to the airport! Eventually they made it to the show, and were soon meeting with our friends from Juki, Rexel, and many more companies from all over the world.
They spent time making connections with new suppliers to expand our range and reduce turnaround times for our customers, particularly for our parts and spares department. We’re excited about these new partnerships and can’t wait to get started. It was all in all a very successful whirlwind of a trip!
The Furniture Component Expo
The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) Furniture Component Expo provides an opportunity for furniture-makers to connect in a one-stop-shop format. It allows manufacturers to network and purchase products from leading suppliers.
John, Gary, and Richard were representing us at our stand and showing off some of our range of specialist upholstery manufacturing equipment. We have been working with upholstery producers for many years now, from big name brands to exclusive boutiques, and have refined our selection of equipment to prioritise productivity, ergonomics, and consistent results. We’re passionate about supporting UK businesses, and it was great to catch up with some of our existing customers, meet some potential new ones, and for them to meet the technicians who will be supporting them if they choose to order any machines from us!
The equipment we had on show was:
Rexel R500 – Rexel lead the market with their high-quality cutting equipment for upholstery production. Their band knives are designed for use with upholstery foam, as well as multiple layers of tough fabric. The R500 is the most compact of these band knives.
Rexel PDK-1 – Rexel’s pneumatic chair presses are the ideal tool for producing items such as office chairs. They apply pressure to the work piece which holds both it and the fabric in place to make manufacturing simple, efficient, and easy. The PDK-1 is a freestanding version ideal for medium-sized businesses.
Rexel ST-3 – Rexel’s pneumatic lifting tables have gained international popularity with upholstery manufacturers due to their ergonomic design and the fact that they have been proven to increase productivity by at least 14% compared to standard upholstery trestles. The carpet-topped ST-3 is the standard model, but many other options are available to suit a wide range of manufacturing processes.
Juki LU-2810-7 – A unison feed, flat bed industrial sewing machine designed for use with heavy duty upholstery materials. It has automatic features including thread trimming and backtack, and a presser foot lift of up to 20mm.
Juki DU-1181N – A top and bottom feed lockstitch industrial sewing machine with a double capacity hook. It has a 15mm presser foot lift height and is perfect for use with upholstery fabrics, leather, and canvas.
Juki PLC-2760-7 – A unison feed, post-bed industrial sewing machine with vertical axis hook. This machine is designed to make easy work of 3-dimensional sewing, which makes it ideal for topstitching sofas and armchairs.
