British-Made Gift Ideas for Christmas

With Christmas fast approaching, many of us will be at different stages of the Christmas shopping process. Some will be done already, others may be about halfway through and others may not have even started! Whichever category you fall into, don't worry! AE Sewing Machines have compiled a list of potential places to look for Christmas gifts for your loved ones. Seeing as we like to do our bit to support British manufacturing... All of these gifts are British-made!

Why British-made?

Many of you will already know that we do what we can to support and promote British manufacturing. As members of Make it British, we offer a high level of service and support to British manufacturers. We also use British-made components wherever we can when we are assembling any equipment for our customers. As we supply a lot of equipment to customers in the textile manufacturing industry, we tend to know them pretty well and we can attest to the quality of their products. Without further ado, here is our list of excellent British-made gift ideas...

Wild Bangarang (Activewear/Athleisure)

If there's one thing we know, it's that nerdy/pop-culture-themed goods are in right now. What's also very popular at the moment is athleisure/activewear. What do you get when you combine these two things? Wild Bangarang. This Sussex-based business sells leggings, hoodies, t-shirts, vests - just about every piece of activewear you can think of, all British-made. On top of their own unique designs, they also have fully-licensed designs for things like DC Comics, Star Trek, Blizzard Games and many more! So if you know someone who's a little bit geeky, into fitness, or even just looking for some super-comfy clothing, give Wild Bangarang a try.

Moonlake Designs (Fabric prints, printed mugs and other gifts)

Stocking fillers can be some of the most difficult things to think of when Christmas shopping. We're often left over-thinking something that should, in theory, be so simple. If you're looking for inspiration, pay a visit to Moonlake Designs' website. Run by husband and wife, Tanya and Roger in Northumberland, Moonlake Designs make a wide range of little gifts and souvenirs. They make printed mugs, coasters, mousemats and even personalised Santa sacks to put your gifts in! As well as this, they make a lot of other personalised goods such as fabric panels with your own choice of photograph printed on them. Perfect for little stocking fillers with a personal touch.

British-made

Moonlake Designs have some brilliant little gifts to offer - Rhys and Lewis can attest to that with their 'Bore Da' mugs!

Oddballs (Underwear and other apparel)

There are two certainties at Christmastime: You will eat far more food than you thought was ever possible and at least one person will give you socks and/or underpants as a gift. If you are thinking of going down that route in terms of a gift, then why not treat your loved one to some British-made underwear with a bit of quality? Made in Newcastle and endorsed by sports personalities around the world, Oddballs' range of underwear is comfortable, long-lasting and available in a range of weird and wonderful designs. What's more, Oddballs was originally founded to raise awareness for testicular cancer and through their product sales, they have set up the Oddballs Foundation charity. As well as underwear (for both men and women), Oddballs also sell all manner of clothing, including knitted hats, hoodies, pyjamas and even sportswear!

Martha Loves (Childrenswear)

Another underwear specialist makes the list, but this one is a little bit different. Martha Loves is a small, family-run business in the Llyn Peninsula in Wales that makes underwear for children who have made the transition from nappies to 'Big Boy/Girl Pants'. As well as this, though, they also have a range of harem trousers and headbands, available with matching prints. Just in time for Christmas, brand new 'Candy Cane' and 'Night Before Christmas' prints have been released, alongside Martha Loves' usual range of colourful, eye-catching prints. If you're stuck for ideas for your little one, be sure to visit their website and see what they have to offer.

Pickpocket Foragers (Gifts for dogs)

Here's one for the dog lovers out there - Foraging pouches that promote canine enrichment, developed by a canine behaviourist! Pickpocket Foragers make foraging pouches for dogs of all shapes and sizes which provide enrichment and puzzle-solving for your pooches. They are available in a number of styles, including crate hanging foragers, floor mat foragers and small foraging pouches. The pouches are machine-washable and can potentially lessen behaviour problems in dogs and help to boost their wellbeing. If you're looking to spoil your dog this year, or you know a dog owner who would appreciate a gift like this, we would definitely recommend that you check out Pickpocket Foragers!
