AE Sewing Machines 2019 Review
2019 has been a very eventful year for AE Sewing Machines, to say the least! Each year comes with its own events and milestones, but the things that have happened for us this year have been some of the biggest yet. Join us as we revisit all of the most significant occasions that made 2019 such a great year for us...
First Juki AMS-251 installed in the UK
In January, we installed the UK's first-ever Juki AMS-251 turning head CNC sewing machine. Watson Gym Equipment wanted a machine that was capable of sewing intricate patterns onto leather for their bespoke gym equipment. When they contacted us with their request, we were more than happy to oblige! Towards the end of 2018, Simon Watson, the owner of Watson Gym equipment, travelled all the way from Somerset to see the AMS-251 in our showroom. By Christmas, the order was placed and we returned to work in 2019 determined to get the AMS-251 delivered and installed by the end of January. We achieved our goal and now Watson Gym Equipment is able to add a beautiful finishing touch to their already impeccable gym equipment. Some of the designs that they have sewn with the AMS-251 are genuinely incredible!
Bringing Conveyors to Canada
A couple more monumental installations took place this year, except these ones were across the pond! Between April and June, we installed three conveyorised machines for two different companies - Ottawa Scene and Art of Where. Ottawa Scene needed a machine to sew SEG (silicone edge graphics) and after a number of conversations with our team, they placed their order and John and Rhys flew out to Ottawa to install an ASA-3010/TPL-KC conveyorised machine. Months later, the boys were back on their way to Canada, this time to Montreal, Quebec. Art of Where were looking for a way to make sewing large duvet covers quicker, easier and more efficient. Rhys proposed the idea of our conveyorised machines with intelligent mouse clamps to steady the fabric and the rest was history. After the installation was complete, we had two happy customers in Canada and two successful installations in North America under our belts in 2019.
Texprocess Frankfurt 2019
In May, our team flew out to Frankfurt am Main to attend Texprocess 2019. This was a unique exhibition for us, as we exhibited with both Juki and Pathfinder in two separate halls! Our team split their time between the two stands in one of the biggest shows that we've ever exhibited at. People from all over the world visited us to see all of the latest innovations from both Juki and Pathfinder, including Juki's new range of Simply Smart machines, such as the DDL-8000A single needle lockstitch machine, and Pathfinder's M-Series and L-Series CNC cutting machines. It was a thoroughly enjoyable exhibition and we were absolutely thrilled to take part in it.
Prestigious Award from Juki
While we exhibited at Make it British Live 2019 in Islington, we were joined by our colleague from Juki, John Rylance. John visited us on behalf of Juki to present us with an award for 'Outstanding Performance'. We received the award for " [our] outstanding contribution and long-lasting cooperation in promotion and sales of the Juki industrial leather and heavy-duty machines, and to confirm [our] professionalism of the highest degree as well as [our] outstanding performance as an authorised Juki LHD dealer." As you can probably imagine, we were delighted to receive such praise from Juki. We work hard to have a successful working relationship with Juki and it was fantastic that our efforts were recognised and rewarded!
Our team was very well-travelled this year - In July, Rhys and Ellis visited ITMA 2019 in Barcelona. While we weren't actively exhibiting at the show, we spent some time with our colleagues at Juki and Rexel. The team from Juki was demonstrating a number of industrial sewing and welding machines (including their impressive range of digital machinery) while Rexel had upholstery manufacturing equipment on their stand, such as a band knife cutting machine for upholstery foam. It was a nice change of pace to be visitors at an exhibition, rather than exhibitors!
Partnership with CMYUK
When we were demonstrating our ASA-3010/TPL-KC conveyorised sewing machine for SEG (silicone edge graphics) at Sign & Digital UK 2019, we met the CEO of CMYUK, Robin East. CMYUK is the nation's leading supplier of digital printing equipment and they were looking for a potential sewing solution for SEG. They were able to supply the printing equipment to their customers, but not the finishing equipment. After a series of meetings, we were proud to announce that we now work in direct partnership with CMYUK and that they are official distributors of our conveyorised sewing machines for SEG. Now, we are developing an excellent working relationship with the company and we are looking forward to a very prosperous 2020.
In September, John, Rhys and Ellis got the chance to attend CISMA 2019 in Shanghai. It was a tremendous opportunity for our team to visit one of the world's largest textile manufacturing trade shows and meet a large number of suppliers - both old and new. The exhibition was an amazing, eye-opening experience that the boys certainly won't forget. On top of this, they were also invited to visit Juki's factory in Shanghai. The factory was vastly impressive, being held to the same strict levels of quality control as Juki's factory in Japan while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It was a huge privilege to visit the factory and see first-hand the hard work that goes into each and every Juki industrial sewing machine.
A big month for Pathfinder machines
November was a huge month for AE Sewing Machines and Pathfinder. Hot off the heels of a very successful Advanced Engineering exhibition in Birmingham, we installed not one, but two Pathfinder CNC cutting machines in the space of two weeks! The first was an M-Series multi-ply cutting machine for a new customer in Beverley, West Yorkshire and the second was an L-Series single/low ply cutting machine for our loyal customer in Cradley Heath, West Midlands. It was a fortnight of long days and hard work for our technical team, but thanks to the training and support that we have received from Pathfinder over the years, both installations went off without a hitch. Now we have two very satisfied customers with brand-new, state-of-the-art CNC cutting machines at their disposal. This adds to the growing number of Pathfinder machines in the UK, all supplied with a high level of service and support from AE Sewing Machines and Pathfinder.
2019 was a year in which we decided to make a lot of changes. One of the biggest changes for us was our logo. While our old logo had become very recognisable, we felt that it was starting to look a little bit dated. We wanted something with more of a modern look while keeping the essence of our original logo. In the end, we feel that we have achieved what we set out to accomplish with the new logo. We kept the globe symbol that was the focal point of our original logo, as well as the red, white and blue colour scheme. We made our brand name 'AE Sewing Machines' more prominent and updated the text to a cleaner, more modern font. Now, the new logo is featured on our uniforms and our website, amongst a host of other things.
Big things on the horizon for 2020
Looking back on 2019, it's clear to see why it was such a big year for AE Sewing Machines. A lot of positive things came from it which we aim to build on in 2020. We would like to thank our customers for their support this year - it's already shaping up to be a busy start to 2020 with the bespoke projects that we have in the works! Also, we have something very big coming your way in the new year... Over the past few months, our marketing team has been working extremely hard to develop our brand new website! Our old website has been redesigned and restructured to make it far easier for our customers to use and we can't wait to share it with you all. Have a great Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all in the new year!
